LA 236 CYBERCRIME



This course introduces the basic concepts and techniques used in cybercrimes, which are committed through the use of the Internet, computers, and digital devices. Students who take this course do not need computer expertise or a technical background. Cybercrime studies include identity theft, hacking, phishing, ransomware/malware attacks, financial fraud, infrastructure attacks, and cyber terrorism. Students will also examine relevant federal and state laws, factors that contribute to victimization, and the impact of artificial intelligence on cybercrimes. Criminal investigations will be analyzed by reviewing case studies and how cybercrime cases are prosecuted. Lecture: 3 hours per week. 3 Credits
