BT 247 THERAPEUTICS RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

The Therapeutics Research Experience course offers students valuable hands-on research opportunities in the field of therapeutics. This course, like undergraduate research programs at Community Colleges, provides practical experience under the guidance of experienced faculty. Students will work collaboratively in small groups on diverse research projects, including biologics production, biomanufacturing process, genome analysis, RNA-based therapeutics, and more.

The course takes advantage of our state-of-the-art Centers, such as the Center for Therapeutics and Genomics Training (CTGT) and the Center for Biomanufacturing Education and Workforce Training (CBEWT), to familiarize students with the latest techniques and equipment used in the biomanufacturing industry. They will gain a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic product development, genetic tools for gene expression analysis, and quality assurance practices. In addition to research projects, students will participate in workshops, case studies, and industry lab tours to expand their knowledge in ethics, professional conduct, and soft skills essential in the workplace. By the end of the course, students will have acquired practical skills in therapeutics research, a deepened understanding of the biomanufacturing process, and enhanced abilities in critical data analysis and interpretation. This course is ideal for students seeking careers in the biotechnology industry, pharmaceutical development, or further academic pursuits in therapeutics. Students also can present their research findings through a research paper or a poster presentation. Lab hours per week: 12. 4 Credits Prerequisites: include foundational coursework in Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing, and permission from the Biotech Programs Director is required.
