PN 122 MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING II This course continues to explore the skills necessary to provide practical nursing care to patients across the life span that have common health problems. The framework for this course content is basic human needs and the following Nurse of the Future Competencies (NOF): Patient and Family Centered Care, Systems-Based Practice, Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration, Safety, and Evidence-Based Practice. Nursing information and skills are presented in classroom, laboratory, clinical area, and clinical conference settings. Students utilize critical thinking and the nursing process as the basis for delivery of safe practical nursing care. Students care for patients in sub-acute/rehabilitation care clinical settings. Lecture: 60 hours per 8 wk session. Lab 22.5 hours Clinical: 112 hours. 7 Credits Prerequisites: PN 102 FOUNDATIONS OF PRACTICAL NURSING , PN 105 ISSUES & TRENDS IN PRACTICAL NURSING , PN 107 PRINCIPLES OF PHARMACOLOGY I , PN 109 INTRODUCTION TO MEDICAL/SURGICAL NURSING , PN 121 MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING I , BI 215 ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY I w/LAB , BI 217 ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY II w/LAB , HL 111 ESSENTIALS OF NUTRITION . Co-requisites: PN 110 PRINCIPLES OF PHARMACOLOGY II .
