SX 100 FUNDAMENTALS OF SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY



This course is an introduction to the profession and practices of surgical technology. It explores the history of surgery, personnel and communication in the health care environment, as well as training and certification requirements, and personal accountability. Additional emphasis will be on creating and maintaining a safe operating environment and on the physical environment of the surgical setting. Students will be prepared to transition into the operating room. Lecture: 3 hours per week. 3 Credits Pre-requisites: HL 103 MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY  Co-requisites: CY 102 PRINCIPLES OF CENTRAL PROCESSING I
