LI 208 LIFE WRITING: READING AND WRITING AUTOBIOGRAPHY
The course will examine the art of “composing a life” as practiced by memoirists, diarists, and autobiographers including Welty, Douglass, Nabokov, and Nin. The critical perspective gained through this study will be applied to the student’s own writing on autobiographical themes; through these written assignments, students will explore the value of writing in making sense of one’s own experience. Lecture: 3 hours per week. 3 Credits.
