PN 122 MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING II
This course continues to explore the skills necessary to provide practical nursing care to patients across the life span that have common health problems. The framework for this course content is basic human needs and the following Nurse of the Future Competencies (NOF): Patient and Family Centered Care, Systems-Based Practice, Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration, Safety, and Evidence-Based Practice. Nursing information and skills are presented in classroom, laboratory, clinical area, and clinical conference settings. Students utilize critical thinking and the nursing process as the basis for delivery of safe practical nursing care. Students care for patients in sub-acute/rehabilitation care clinical settings. Lecture: 60 hours per 8 wk session. Lab 22.5 hours Clinical: 112 hours. 7 Credits. Prerequisites: PN 102 , PN 105 , PN 107 , PN 109 , PN 121 , BI 215 , BI 217 , HL 111 . Corequisite: PN 110
