BI 107 FRESHMAN SEMINAR: SCIENCE GATEWAY SEMINAR This seminar course will enable students to understand the intricacies of complex mechanisms underlying biological processes through active learning and group discussions in a supportive learning environment that seeks to maximize student success in their future science careers. Topics will include concepts in biology, human anatomy and physiology, diseases, novel approaches to disease diagnostics and therapy, and ethics. Student participation and simple hands-on experiments and activities will be central to the course. Students will also learn how to manage stress and time to maximize their success in college. This will help the Freshman Success Community students to thrive in their academic endeavors and become a contributing member to the college’s academic community. 2 Credits
