EV 201 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY



This course provides a comprehensive examination of environmental health issues through the scientific understanding of causes and possible future approaches to control major environmental health problems. This would include pollution problems and topics in environmental pollutants; environmental contamination with physical, chemical, and biological agents, vectors, dissemination (air, water, soil); solid and hazardous waste; biomarkers and risk analysis. The course will cover environment-to-human interactions and their impact. Environmental carcinogenesis, cell injury, food- and water-borne disease and risk analysis. Lab methods will include forensic toxicology, analysis of toxic drinking water contaminants, food microbiology, and bacterial toxins. Lab: 3 hours per week 4 credits 4 Credits Prerequisites: EV106, BI120, CH120
