NU 182 CORE CONCEPTS FOR HOLISTIC CARE ACROSS THE LIFESPAN WITH PRACTICUM



This course addresses the need to strengthen the practical nursing’s understanding of key psychosocial and biophysical concepts that occur across the lifespan. Students complete an in depth an analysis of the concepts of growth and development, family, sexuality, reproduction, cognition, mood and affect and stress and coping. Select exemplars are studied to reinforce an understanding of how nursing care is applied to promote health in patients of all ages as well as care for those presenting with both predictable and increasingly complex alterations. Students will have an opportunity to apply nursing concepts in the maternal child clinical setting and in a health promotion setting serving the holistic needs of children and families. Didactic content is delivered in a flexible hybrid format. 5 credits. (note: students who have obtained a decision score of 75 or greater on each of the following NACE INursing Care During Childbearing / Nursing Care of the Child and Nursing Care of the Client with a Mental Disorder may receive course credit provided they have completed face sheets and maps required for the LPN to RN Capstone Course).
