LA 236 CYBERCRIME



This course studies the legal issues raised by computer related crimes and relevant federal and state laws. It provides an introduction to the basic concepts and techniques used in crimes committed through the use of the internet or computers/digital devices. Students who take this course do not need any computer/technical background. Cybercrimes studied include identity theft, hacking, phishing, internet schemes, financial fraud, victimization and cyber terrorism. This course also explores computer based criminal investigations including methods used in preserving and interpreting digital evidence, and how to bring a Cybercrime case through the criminal court system. Lecture: 3 hours per week. 3 Credits
