Human Services: Substance Abuse Certificate

The Substance Abuse Certificate combines work in the social and behavioral sciences, with human services courses and seminars. The professional course provide knowledge of the field and/or develop professional skills in communication, report writing, treatment modalities, and human relations. Knowledge and skills are tested and professional experience is acquired through 300 hours of substance abuse placement.

The certificate is designed to prepare student for entry- level positions in the area of substance abuse, to help those currently in the field upgrade their skills for professional advancement, and/or meet the needs of students intending to pursue further studies in the Human Services, Criminal Justice, Social Work and/or Substance Abuse. Students seeking immediate employment are prepared to work in a variety of residential programs and/or community outreach centers.

Upon successful completion, the Human Services: Substance Abuse Certificate is awarded.

 

Admission requirements

CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and SORI (Sexual Offender Registry Information) background checks are required prior to practicum placement and will be conducted in accordance with state regulations. CORI and SORI results are confidential.
